Brand new?

Never modded anything? Perfect.

Guided mode turns each studio into a set of short lessons. You change one thing at a time, Modsmith checks it, and you finish with a mod running in your own game. No coding experience needed.

Start my first mod

What you need

  • The game on a computer. For Minecraft, that's Java Edition, not phone or console.
  • This website. Nothing to install while you build.
  • About 15 minutes for your first mod.

What Guided mode does

  • Explains every file in plain English
  • Lets you tap any jargon word to see what it means
  • Highlights the exact line to change
  • Checks your work and gives hints when you're stuck
  • Shows you exactly where the files go in your game

Five studios, five worlds

Each studio is themed after its game and opens with a starter mod that already builds. Games that need desktop tools, like Ready or Not, get a guided workbench instead.

Everything a modder needs

Most people quit modding in the first hour, stuck on setup, licenses or a missing file. Modsmith removes those walls.

The Guide

Plain-language rules for modding without getting a takedown or a ban.

  • What EULAs actually allow
  • Asset licenses decoded: CC0, CC-BY, NC
  • Multiplayer and anti-cheat red lines
  • Publishing and getting paid

The Asset Vault

Every free texture, model, sound and tool we trust, each tagged with its license.

  • CC0 textures, models and HDRIs
  • Sound effects and music sources
  • Official SDKs and docs per game
  • Modsmith's own free sprites and palettes

The Studio

A code editor, file tree, pixel editor and build system in one browser tab.

  • Syntax highlighting per language
  • Pixel editor with game palettes
  • Validation that catches common mistakes
  • One-click build to an installable mod

From idea to installed in four steps

  1. Pick your game

Open its studio. A working starter mod is already loaded.

  2. Write the code

Edit functions, scripts or JSON with highlighting and autosave.

  3. Add your assets

Draw textures in the pixel editor or upload your own files.

  4. Build and play

Modsmith checks your files, packages the mod and tells you where it goes.
